Overview
Lutron has is seeking a dynamic Senior Sales Representative to join our Luxury Residential team in NYC. In this role, you will be responsible for driving specification and demand creation for Lutron's residential solutions by building strong relationships with architects, interior designers, lighting designers, builders, and developers. You will help to influence projects early in the design process, helping clients translate lifestyle and design goals into scalable, high-performance lighting, shading, and home automation solutions. This role works closely with sales teams, authorized dealers, and cross-functional partners to manage residential projects from concept through construction documentation, supports successful project execution, and expands market presence through strategic territory development, business growth initiatives, and industry engagement. As a trusted advisor and brand advocate, you will deliver educational presentations, provide technical expertise, and represent Lutron within the residential design and construction community in NYC.
The sales territory/area for this role includes New York City, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island, Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk Counties), Northern New Jersey, and the greater New York Metro Area.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residential architects, interior designers, lighting designers, builders, and developers.
- Influence system specifications early in the design phase, positioning appropriate Lutron residential solutions such as HomeWorks, luxury lighting, and automated shading.
- Support the design intent by helping specifiers translate lifestyle goals into scalable, reliable Lutron system solutions.
- Manage active residential projects from conceptual design through construction documentation, ensuring Lutron is clearly specified and well positioned.
Territory & Market Development
- Execute a strategic territory plan aligned with residential market priorities and regional business objectives.
- Identify new firms, builders, and influencers within targeted residential segments including luxury single family homes, multi residential developments, and specialty properties.
- Expand engagement within existing firms through consistent value added touchpoints and technical support.
- Maintain accurate project tracking, activity reporting, and forecasting in CRM and internal reporting tools.
Dealer & Sales Collaboration
- Partner closely with Lutron Sales Representatives and authorized residential dealers to ensure a smooth transition from specification to installation.
- Provide dealers with clear documentation of design intent, system scope, and performance expectations.
- Support dealers and sales partners during bidding, value engineering discussions, and client presentations as needed.
- Collaborate with applications engineering, lighting, shading, and service teams to deliver best in class residential solutions.
Education & Brand Advocacy
- Deliver residential focused product presentations, lunch and learns, and design education sessions for specification firms.
- Represent Lutron at residential industry events, design showcases, showhouses, and trade programs
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree with minimum cumulative 2.80 GPA required
- If you have 5+ years of sales experience, a Bachelors degree is preferred but not required
- Minimum 3 years of sales experience that includes proven ability to manage customer accounts, sales leads, and activities using Salesforce.com (or similar) required
- Experience training and/or public speaking preferred
- Willingness to travel 25% to 50% required
- This is a home-based position requiring travel throughout the New York City, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Staten Island, Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk Counties), Northern New Jersey, and the greater New York Metro Area. Candidates must reside in the greater New York Metro Area and be able to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
- You are authorized to work in the U.S. and will not require Lutron to sponsor you for any work visa, such as an H-1B, either immediately or at any time in the future. Lutron does not offer work visa sponsorship for this position.
Starting pay: $105,000.00 to $115,000.00 per year; Lutron's employee benefits include 401k match, health, dental, and life insurance, paid vacation (amount based on tenure with the company), flexible spending accounts, and tuition reimbursement programs.
